Our Story
After 1 year of recipe development, we created the most delicious, crisp, melt in your mouth meringue bite on the market.
It was paramount to us that our product was delicious, made from real eggs,
supported local farmers and created employment in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
With these goals, and a vision for excellence we launched our range of Pavlovas and meringues into the retail space.
It has been a tough journey, but very rewarding, and we have upskilled a dream team of self-motivated women along the way!
Our Process
From mixing the ingredients to decorating the finished product, every step of our baking process is done by hand. We take the time to ensure that every item that leaves our bakery is of the highest quality.

Our team have completed their relevant Food Safety qualifications, and are growing and upskilling every day in their own personal capacities.
Team Roles
Christau handles merchandising and sales duties for us. He is a brilliant front of house representing us at the retail level.
Nthombi has been with us in the kitchen the longest and took to piping meringues like she was born for it.

Our journey to retail
In April 2022 Sweet Thing Meringues entered into their first Spar store, and closing up the year we were in 2 Pick n Pay’s, 11 Spar Stores as well as their original Deli clients.
Since that first year it has been a sweet but tough ride with exponential growth ending 2023 in 65 retail outlets in a territory spanning from East London to Cape Town.
Sweet Thing Meringues are now available at nearly 200 retail outlets including Checkers, Food Lovers Market, Pick n Pay Family, Spar and Fresh Stop plus many more well known padstals and deli's.
At the close of 2024 we are proud to be found in Food Lovers and Checkers stores from the Weskus to East London. As well as Spar's from the Karoo to Knysna, Beacon Bay to George and beyond.
We are so thankful to every retailer who gave us a shot to prove that our meringues are the best of the bunch! It's these opportunities that have allowed us to grow. Thank you!
